Tourist ETA System Reinstated with Streamlined Visa Process

Great news for travelers planning to visit Sri Lanka! The much-anticipated Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system is now back online, simplifying the visa process for international tourists. After a prolonged effort by the Tourism Associations, the system has been fully reinstated. Under the reinstated ETA system, tourists can apply for a 30-day visa, just as before.

The process is straightforward and available through the official website: https://www.eta.gov.lk. Visa Fees:The standard visa fee is US$ 50 for most countries. Nationals of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan can apply for a free visa through the ETA system or upon arrival. Nationals of Singapore, Maldives, Seychelles, and the Czech Republic do not require a visa. For citizens of SAARC countries, the visa fee is US$ 20, with India being an exception, as Indian nationals receive a free visa. Children under 12 years of age are eligible for a free visa. Visitors from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Ghana must apply through a Sri Lankan sponsor via the Department of Immigration & Emigration’s Head Office. Technical Updates: While the system is back online, a few minor glitches remain.

Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) is actively coordinating with Mobitel to resolve these issues and ensure the system functions smoothly. Any changes or amendments will be communicated promptly. Travelers are encouraged to use the updated system to plan their trips to Sri Lanka and enjoy a seamless visa application experience!
