Azur Air Resumes Seasonal Flights to Sri Lanka for Winter 2024/2025

Azur Air has officially resumed its seasonal direct flights to Sri Lanka, marking the beginning of the Winter 2024/2025 season. The inaugural flight arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on the 6th of November, at 10:05 hrs, carrying 332 passengers.

The arrival was celebrated with a water cannon salute organized by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Limited. Passengers were greeted with a vibrant Kandyan dance performance, courtesy of Sri Lanka Tourism, creating a warm and culturally rich welcome.

For this winter season, Azur Air will operate five flights per week using Boeing 767-300 aircraft, with a seating capacity of 336 economy class seats per flight. These flights will connect Sri Lanka with five major cities in Russia:

  • Vnukovo (VKO)
  • Tolmachevo (OVB)
  • Krasnoyarsk (KJA)
  • St. Petersburg (LED)
  • Sochi (AER)
  • With these operations, Sri Lanka is expecting to welcome approximately 40,000 Russian tourists during this winter season, further strengthening ties between the two countries and contributing to the island’s tourism revival.

Azur Air’s resumption of services reflects growing demand from Russian travelers seeking Sri Lanka’s unique blend of tropical landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
