In our continuous efforts to contribute to community well-being and enhance the city’s vibrancy, Walkers Tours donated a JBL Party Box and two Bluetooth microphones to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC). This contribution, generously sponsored by our Chinese Market, was formally handed over to the Mayoress of the Colombo Municipal Council by our CEO, Mr. Nalaka Amaratunga, together with Mr. Ramuald Pathirana (Head of the Chinese Market), Mr. Demetrius Silva, and members of the sustainability and IT teams.
The donated equipment will be used by street performers (buskers) across Colombo, bringing life and energy to the city’s evenings through music and performances. This initiative not only supports local talent but also creates a lively atmosphere for both tourists exploring the city and residents enjoying their surroundings.
In addition, the CMC organizes musical events at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre, where the community can enjoy free performances. Together, these efforts aim to uplift the vibe of Colombo, filling its streets with music and creating moments of joy and relaxation for workers on their way home, as well as residents and visitors. Importantly, this initiative also gives young performers the opportunity to grow and enhance their vocation in music.
At Walkers Tours, we believe in building stronger connections between tourism, local communities, and cultural enrichment. This initiative is another step forward in fostering a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable Colombo.
