Over 50 Years of Expertise, Evolving for the Future

This World Tourism Day, celebrated on 27 September 2026, the global tourism community comes together under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism”. It is a theme that closely reflects our own journey at Walkers Tours, where more than five decades of experience are now being strengthened by digital transformation.

For more than five decades, Walkers Tours has played a defining role in shaping travel experiences across Sri Lanka. Built on deep industry knowledge, strong partnerships, and a thorough understanding of the destination, we have grown to become one of Sri Lanka’s most trusted destination management companies.

While our experience remains at the heart of who we are, we also recognise that the future of travel is increasingly digital. Today’s travellers, partners, and tourism professionals expect faster communication, easier access to information, greater flexibility, and more personalised experiences. To stay ahead of these rising expectations, we recognised the shift towards digital transformation early on, embraced change proactively, and continue to evolve with emerging technologies and changing industry needs.

By adopting smarter systems, enhancing digital platforms, leveraging data-driven insights, and streamlining internal processes, we are creating more efficient ways to serve our clients and partners. Technology empowers our teams to respond faster, collaborate more effectively, and deliver seamless travel experiences from the initial inquiry through to the completion of every journey. We believe these digital tools have contributed to a better work-life balance by giving our teams greater flexibility to work efficiently remotely.

Our digital transformation also extends to our valued ground partners. We have enabled them to use platforms where they can conveniently access tour briefings, review upcoming assignments, and manage payment settlements through one streamlined system. This enhances communication, transparency, and operational efficiency, while reducing dependence on printed documentation. By moving more processes online, we are also reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible business practices.

Over the years, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has weathered many unforeseen challenges, including economic downturns, periods of conflict, natural disasters, and other disruptions that have tested the resilience of travel businesses. Despite these challenges, Walkers Tours has continued to adapt, grow, and move forward. By combining resilience, industry expertise, and continuous technological advancement, we have consistently found new ways to overcome obstacles, support our partners, and deliver seamless travel experiences.

Digital transformation, however, is not simply about introducing new tools. It is about evolving the way we think, work, and create value. At Walkers Tours, technology complements the expertise of our people. Our destination knowledge, operational strength, established partner network, and personalised service remain essential, while digital solutions allow us to deliver these strengths with greater speed, accuracy, flexibility, and consistency.

As the global tourism industry continues to change, we remain committed to moving forward without losing sight of the values that have earned the trust of our partners over the years.

With over 50 years of experience behind us and a clear vision for the future, Walkers Tours continues to combine proven destination expertise with innovation, creating smarter, more connected, sustainable, and meaningful travel experiences that align with the expectations of the modern traveller.

As the world marks World Tourism Day and explores how the digital agenda can redesign tourism, we look forward to continuing this journey, guided by our experience and driven by technology.

Experience guides us. Resilience defines us. Technology moves us forward.
