More than 250 industry leaders gathered in Colombo for the inaugural International Hospitality Leaders’ Conference.
Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector set its sights firmly on the future as the Institute of Hospitality – Sri Lanka Region hosted the inaugural International Hospitality Leaders’ Conference 2026 (IHLC 2026) at Cinnamon Grand Colombo.
Held under the theme “Vision 2030: Shaping the Future Performance of Sri Lanka’s Hospitality Industry,” the conference drew more than 250 senior leaders, alongside international speakers from Belgium, Malta, Seychelles, the Maldives and the UAE.
Insights from Seychelles and the Maldives on destination leadership and national positioning set the tone, while sessions on AI, revenue management and consumer trends examined the forces reshaping the industry. The day closed with the Great Reform Debate, which asked what must change for Sri Lanka to realise its 2030 ambitions.
“We did not create this conference to celebrate what we have endured. We created it to confront what comes next,” said Conference Chairman Refhan Razeen.
As the Official Hospitality Partner, Cinnamon Grand Colombo showcased its signature restaurants throughout the day, while Powered By Partner Nestlé Professional hosted an all-day coffee lounge featuring its new Nescafé Superiore range.
Ramesh Dassanayake, Chairman of the Institute of Hospitality – Sri Lanka Region, described the conference as the start of an important conversation for the industry, one he hopes will unite the sector around the opportunities ahead.
IHLC 2026 is set to become an ongoing platform that brings international thinking into Sri Lanka’s hospitality conversation as the country works towards 2030.
