Edelweiss Air to Resume Direct Flights Between Zurich and Colombo for Winter 2025/26

The announcement was made during a recent visit to Colombo by Urs Limacher

Director / Head of Sales, Services and Distribution, where the occasion was marked with a special reception hosted at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence. The event brought together key representatives from Sri Lanka’s aviation and tourism industries, highlighting the importance of this direct link for leisure and business travel.

Edelweiss first launched flights to Colombo in 2016 and has since become a valued seasonal operator, contributing significantly to Sri Lanka’s inbound tourism, particularly from Switzerland and wider European markets. The airline’s Airbus A340-300 aircraft, offering a 314-seat configuration with 27 Business Class, 76 Premium Economy, and 211 Economy Class seats, ensures a premium travel experience for passengers.

Founded in 1995 and named after Switzerland’s symbolic Edelweiss flower, the airline is recognized for its focus on quality, comfort, and reliability. The renewed Zurich–Colombo service is expected to further strengthen tourism ties, attract high-value European travelers, and support Sri Lanka’s ambitious visitor arrival targets for the upcoming season.
