Pottuvil Beach

Pottuvil is the gateway for Arugam Bay, which is 2km to the south. It can only be reached by road, either driving down the east coast from Batticaloa along the A4, or on the A4 via Monaragala. It is surrounded by fields of brilliantly verdant paddy, edged with talipot trees and has the atmosphere of a frontier town, its sole street bustling with business. The nearest accommodation is at Arugam Bay.
