The First Wetland To Be Declared As A Ramsar Site In Sri Lanka And A Unesco Designated Biosphere Reserve. An Important Bird Area (Iba) In The South Indian And Sri Lankan Wetlands, The Park Hosts 197 Species Of Birds Of Which 58 Are Migratory. Out Of The 197 Bird Species, 100 Are Water Birds Of Which 50% Is Migratory.

Being One Of The Best Places To Observe Winter Migrant Species As Well As Various Resident And Migratory Water Birds That Use These Shallow Lagoons As Feeding Sites, Bundala Is A Bird Lover’s Paradise.
