Sustainability Certification

Travelife is an internationally recognized sustainability programme for tour operators and travel agents, designed to help travel businesses improve the sustainability of their operations through practical support, clearly defined requirements and independent assessment. Our company has achieved Travelife Certified recognition. Which is the highest recognition level within the internationally recognized Travelife sustainability programme. We have complied with more than 200 mandatory sustainability criteria covering areas including environmental management, climate action, biodiversity, working conditions, human rights, local communities, sustainable supply chain management, customer communication and responsible business practices, related to an operators’ office management, product range, international business partners and customer information.

The only Destination Management Company in Sri Lanka to have a CarbonNeutral® certified fleet of vehicles, awarded by Climate Impact Partners of the UK (Climateimpact.com) – a leading carbon offset solutions provider, through their regional partner- Climate and Conservation Consortium (http://climateconserve.com/) This fleet which numbers almost 600 vehicles range from large coaches to luxury cars, all of which have their carbon emissions set aside. This global certification reinforces our commitment to accurately measure, monitor, and continuously work towards mitigating the running-emissions of our entire vehicle fleet. We have also “gone the extra mile” to offset our emissions to ‘net zero’ by investing in local and international renewable energy projects by purchasing registered Carbon Credits to match our fleet footprint each year.

Although sustainability had already played an important role in our company before, in 2014 we decided to make an official commitment to our sustainability goals by getting TourCert Qualified. The independent certification organisation TourCert advises and accompanies tourism businesses and destinations on their road towards sustainable and successful management. In order to be part of the community and get the qualification we assessed our current sustainability standing and committed to an improvement program that is updated annually and helps us to continually develop our company in a way that is compatible with all pillars of sustainability.
