Along Misty Ridges
Navigating Hanthana Mountain Range

From tea plantations and pine forests to cloud-kissed ridges that resemble alpine landscapes, Hanthana lures visitors with its picturesque scenery and outdoor excursions.

Just south of Kandy city, the Hanthana Mountain Range is a stunning highland region known for its rolling green slopes, misty peaks, and rich biodiversity. Rising to about 1,200 metres above sea level, the range is covered in scenic trails ideal for hiking, birdwatching, and ecotourism.

The area is home to various endemic flora and fauna and is protected as an environmental conservation zone. Its habitats shelter various deer, leopards, butterflies and wild orchids, accompanied by a cooler climate and unobstructed panoramas of the royal city.

Beyond the trails, Hanthana also holds significant cultural value — inspiring literature and songs that celebrate its natural beauty and hill-country charm.
