Tee Off in Colonial Charm
Golf at Nuwara Eliya Golf Club

A reminder of Sri Lanka’s rich colonial past, the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is tucked away in the charming hill station of Nuwara Eliya. Originally designed for the British military amid expansive tea plantations, this 18-hole, par 70 course was founded in 1889 by a Scottish soldier.

It provides a distinctive golfing experience and spans roughly 40.5 hectares (100 acres) at an elevation of 1,830 meters (6,000 feet) above sea level. With scorecard lengths in meters and yardage markers showing distances to the green’s edge in yards, the course is 5,851 meters (6,399 yards) long. It is among the oldest and most picturesque golf courses in Sri Lanka.
