The fortress is home to several noteworthy attractions, both on the rock and scattered across its surroundings. At the base, the site features several royal gardens and Angkor Wat-style boulder gardens, once the foundations of an ancient monastery. Nearby, the museum showcases a detailed history of Sigiriya.
The main attraction, the rock fortress, features walls adorned with elegant frescoes, depicting celestial nymphs from Buddhist mythology.
The mirror wall is another highlight of historic significance. Once a section of stone that was completely reflective, the wall has since been marked by pilgrims from 1,500 years ago with poetry, impressions, and tributes.
The summit holds the ruins of King Kasiyapa’s palace. Although what remains are just pieces of foundation, the final section offers incredible views of the forest canopy.
