Sri Lanka’s Summit
Embrace the grandeur of Piduruthalagala

Pidurutalagala, also known as Mount Pedro, is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, standing at an impressive 2,524 metres (8,281 feet) above sea level. Located near Nuwara Eliya, it’s easily visible from much of the Central Province.

Its name, “Pidurutalagala”, translates to “Straw Plateau Rock”, referring to the pale yellow, straw-like appearance of its summit vegetation during dry seasons. The peak is vital, as it houses the central communications array for the Sri Lankan government and armed forces, making it an ultra-high security zone. Public access is restricted, often requiring permission, and specific areas are off-limits, though a scenic drive to the vicinity of the summit is sometimes allowed, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the island’s central highlands.
