The Bio Park is created by the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation Authority for the purpose of Bio Diversity conservation and education. The park consists of a main island and several other small island all interconnected by a water ways. The islands contains a butterfly garden, a home garden of local produce as well other typical flora found in wetland habitats. During the morning hours many species of birds can be seen here. The Park is also home to reptiles such as garden lizards and both land and water monitor lizards. Mammals such as porcupines, Otters and fishing cats are present in the park, however they are mostly nocturnal.
