Identified As An Important Bird Area (Iba), The Kaudulla National Park Houses Over 150 Species Of Birds. The Kaudulla Tank Built By The Ancient Kings Of The Time, Now Acts As A Main Resource For Some 24 Species Of Mammals, 25 Species Of Reptiles, And 26 Species Of Fish Apart From The Varied Bird Life Found Here. Although During The Drought Period The Elephants Move To The Minneriya National Park In Search Of Food And Mostly, Water- They Return To Kaudulla By October In Search Of More Water, Making It The Elephant Season In Kaudulla.
