Sri Lanka’s first capital,
found in the 5th century B.C. is situated 206 km from Colombo. Attractions
worth seeing are :- The Scared Bo Tree, Abayagiri Dagaba, Jetavanaramaya,
and Mirisvati Dagaba etc. Mhintale, rock which is dotted with shrines
and rock dwellings is known as the cradle of Buddhism of Sri Lanka
and is located nearby.
